Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, has promised to fire Malaga out of relegation waters.
The White and Sky Blue are currently rooted to the bottom of the Spanish La Liga with 13 points from 21 games.
Malaga has struggled for goals this term, with just 14 – the worst in the division.
But Ideye, who joined on loan from China, believes he is equal to the task.
“I was well aware of the team’s position before I accepted the offer to come here,” he told the club’s website on Wednesday.
“It is another challenge for me. I know the team is in the bottom part of the table. I’m a goal scorer and I’ve come here to help the team by scoring goals.”
Ideye has enjoyed a relatively prosperous career in eight different countries across three continents.
Yet the Nigerian is anxious about playing in Spain for the first time.
“I’ve joined one of the best leagues in the world. I’m really happy because it was one of the things I’ve longed for – to come here and play with and against the best players,” he revealed.
“I will try to produce my best level. I can’t wait to get started. The only difficulty I envisage is the language and understanding my teammates. But the language of football is universal. I know we’ll click with each other.”
About setting targets for himself, he added: “I never set myself an objective in scoring goals. My statistics are there to see. I’ve always scored goals and I will try to do my job the best I can.”
