Idowu Iluyomade under pressure to resign from pastoral work at RCCG – Sources

Pastor Idowu Iluyomade is under pressure to resign his appointment at The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), sources have said.

Iluyomade was last week suspended for three months from his role as senior pastor of the church’s City of David Parish, Region 20.

He was transferred to the Throne of Grace branch, Ebute Metta, Lagos following an investigation by the church’s governing council on some allegations against him.

Iluyomade was expected to begin his new role as pastor-in-charge of elders at Throne of Grace branch.

However, QEDNG learnt from some sources who chose not to be named due to the sensitive nature of the matter that the cleric is facing pressure to resign. It was also gathered that a few others around Iluyomade advised him to stay put and see out the suspension.

Iluyomade and his wife, Siju, were conspicuously absent during church service on June 2 when his transfer was announced.

The former pastor in charge of RCCG Resurrection Parish of Region 11, Pastor Charles Kpandei has since been seconded to the City of David Parish to take over.

Iluyomade’s wife held a lavish party just one week after a prominent member of the church and key financier, the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.

Many said the party held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos was done in bad taste.
