The suspended senior pastor of City of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Idowu Iluyomade and his wife Siju have slowed down on their social media posts following Iluyomade’s suspension.
Iluyomade, also called PID, was suspended on June 1 for three months by the council of elders which is investigating some allegations against him.
The cleric was suspended over the church’s finances and his alleged resistance to be transferred from the parish.
Iluyomade was replaced by Pastor Charles Kpandei of the church’s Resurrection Parish, Region 11.
Prior to his suspension, Iluyomade and Siju were regular with their posts on Instagram particularly.
But the cleric’s last Instagram post was on May 26, the last Sunday in that month just before his suspension.
The post which was also shared on the church’s page shows Iluyomade and members of the church dancing as musician Frank Edwards sings.
“To the Great God, we offer our dance and thanksgiving,” the post read.
On May 14, Iluyomade celebrated his birthday, flooding the app with photos. The church celebrated him on May 19.
Siju, however, made her last Instagram post on May 30.
“God’s faithfulness is constant, and prayer is our lifeline to His promises. Through prayer, we connect with His steadfast love and guidance.
“Embrace the power of prayer daily and witness His faithfulness in your life,” the post read.
Siju held a lavish party just one week after a prominent member of the church and key financier, the former group chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and son Chizi and several others died in a helicopter crash in California, United States on February 9.
Many said the party held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos was done in bad taste.
Despite the criticism, she continued posting on social media photos and videos from the celebration days after it was held.
Meanwhile, QEDNG learnt that Iluyomade submitted his resignation letter to the church but it was rejected since he is still on suspension.
During church service on Sunday, June 9 at City of David Parish, one of the pastors announced that the parish paid about N15 million for the construction of the Trinity Tower between June 1 and 8.
The pastor, however, told the congregation that the parish had an outstanding N320 million debt.
