The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Awka, Anambra State, has upheld the election of Ifeanyi Ubah as the senator representing Anambra South at the National Assembly.
The tribunal gave the judgement on Monday.

Senator Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) defended his election against Chris Uba of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Uba brothers had alleged that Ubah’s election was characterised by violence.
Also, the tribunal upheld the election of Uche Ekwunife of the PDP for Anambra Central Senatorial District.
Mrs Ekwunife’s election was contested by Victor Umeh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Umeh had challenged the declaration of Ekwunife by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saying she was not properly nominated by her party.

In his reaction to the tribunal’s ruling, Umeh called for calm among his supporters.
“Thank you very much for your faith and indomitable spirit. We shall prayerfully approach the Court of Appeal after reviewing the judgement. It was like this on 9th October 2015. Today is another 9th! Let us not despair. God bless,” he said.
