Senator Ifeanyi Ubah (Anambra South) on Thursday emerged as candidate of the Young Progressives Party for the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
Ubah allayed the fears of Nigerians that the south-east crisis would disrupt the election coming up in November this year.
According to him, the polls would not be affected by the growing insecurity in the region.
Ubah debunked rumour that his party was behind the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the state.
Ubah is the first high-profile individual to secure a governorship ticket in the state for the 2021 polls, although in a relatively small political party.
Former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Charles Soludo is favoured to win that of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, the party which currently controls the governorship seat.
