Ex-governor of Edo State Lucky Igbinedion made a rare public appearance on Thursday when he joined other ex-governors in paying a visit to Senator Orji Kalu over the death of his wife.
Igbinedion has stayed largely away from the public space since his tenure expired in 2007 after two terms.
Although he has been directly uninvolved in the recent affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he remains influential in Edo politics.
Igbinedion joined some of his colleagues who were also state governors in 1999 to visit Kalu.
Among them were James Ibori of Delta State, Achike Udenwa of Imo State, and Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna State, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi State, and Sam Egwu of Ebonyi State.
Kalu expressed his “warmest appreciations” to them for the visit.
Kalu’s wife Ifeoma died in the United States at the age of 61.
Kalu, former Abia State governor, described her as a woman of virtues who was committed to the service of God and humanity.
Mrs Kalu was buried in the United States last month.
