She was the only Nigerian who went home with an individual accolade, with Egypt dominating proceedings.
Ighalo, himself a forward and ply his trade in China like Oshoala, was elated to see the crown return to Nigeria.
The 28-year-old took to Instagram on Friday to congratulate the player.
Oshoala began her career at Lagos-based FC Robo before making the switch to Rivers Angels in 2013.
There she spent two seasons, winning three titles.
Her first European sojourn was with Liverpool in 2015 and Arsenal a season after.
She is currently signed to Dalian Quanjian in China.
Ighalo, meanwhile, will be aiming for another fruitful season with Changchun Yatai.
Last term, the forward notched 15 strikes in 25 games.
