Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo, will face disciplinary action from club, Shanghai Shenhua, over his usage of social media.
According to the statement made by Shanghai Shenhua, Ighalo violated the Chinese club’s rules and regulations by uploading pictures of his rehabilitation in Spain on social media.

The statement read: “Recently, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club noticed a fact that player Odion Ighalo released holiday photos and videos on social media during his treatment of injuries in Spain,” the club said in the statement.
“This incident caused great concern to Chinese media and fans, causing serious adverse social impacts.
“Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club attached great importance to this matter and talked with Odion Ighalo. The club asked Odion Ighalo to put all his energy into rehabilitation and submit treatment and training reports to the club on time.
“He will be punished according to the regulations of the team discipline regulations.
“The Shanghai Greenland Shenhua Football Club requires all players to manage their personal social media. Any violation of the team’s rules and regulations on social media will be punished by the club.”
Odion Ighalo confirmed his retirement from representing the Nigerian national team in July.
The former Watford man struck five times as the Super Eagles finished third in the 2019 AFCON held in Egypt, bagging him the top scorer honours with two goals more than Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez and Cedric Bakambu.

In total Ighalo scored 16 goals for Nigeria in 35 appearances, and he also captained the country´s Under-20 team to the 2009 World Cup, also held in Egypt.
He, however, suffered a hamstring injury in Nigeria’s third-third place game against Tunisia ruling him out of action for two months.
