Sonia Adesuwa, ex-wife of former Nigeria international Odion Ighalo, has alleged that the football star falsely portrays a sense of happiness on Instagram.
Adesuwa stated this in an Instagram Story post on Tuesday in response to Ighalo’s jibe.
Adesuwa and Ighalo got married in 2009. They have three children. Since their divorce, they occasionally throw jibes at each other on social media.
Their latest drama began when Adesuwa reacted to a rumour over the weekend that Ighalo was expecting a baby from another woman described as his fiancée.
On Monday, Ighalo, 35, appeared to respond by saying on Instagram Story, “Rest naaa for Christ’s sake even devil dey rest sometimes. Lies upon lies upon lies every day hmm but I dey too busy dey look for my daily bread to stress about irrelevant things. I pray you find peace.”
Adesuwa wrote on Tuesday also on Instagram Story, saying she would not respond to all the “gibberish” the Al Wehda star posted.
Then she penned a lengthy message where she apologised for all the hurt that her social media rant must have caused him.
“We both struggled to make this work, even in the face of divorce,” she wrote.
Adesuwa said she understood how he tried to keep his extended family in the dark about trouble in his marriage.
“I understand the emotional pain you’re experiencing due to your separation from your beloved family (John 10:10) despite your efforts to portray a false sense of happiness on Instagram to appease them,” she wrote.
Adesuwa said she’d always be there for him physically and spiritually, adding that she does not resent him and that they’ve both forgiven each other.
