Two Nigerian youngsters currently lead the assist ranking in the Premier League after five games.
They are Manchester City and Arsenal forwards, Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi, on three apiece.
The pair are joined by City and West Ham midfielders, Kevin De Bruyne and Dimitri Payet, with same number of assists.
However, Iwobi stands out among the quartet having played two games less. His rate is only bettered by Bayern Munich’s Frank Ribery in Europe’s top five leagues.
The 20-year-old continued his progress under Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, who decided to stick with the Nigerian despite the array of quality in his attack.
“I started him last year because I’ve seen that there’s something in him that is quality of vision, quality of give and go, of movement,” the Frenchman said after his two assists against Hull City at the weekend.
“He can break the lines with a pass and individually as well, so there’s a lot in the locker.
“Overall, he’s only 20 years old so you could see that he has gained in confidence now. He can take people on much more and he has gained power as well. It’s interesting what he has done.”
Iheanacho, 19, on the other hand, has added goals to his game aside creating for his teammates.
The left-footed forward has scored twice in his last two league games – including his superb strike in the Manchester derby.
With his goal against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, Iheanacho became only the 16th teenager to score 10 goals in the Premier League, joining some illustrious names such as Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.
Both Nigerians have so far been more impressive than the likes of Paul Pogba, Mesut Ozil and Eden Hazard.
Adam Smith of Bournemouth, Hull City’s in-form winger, Robert Snodgrass, and Tottenham Hotspur mischief maker, Dele Alli, are other players on the assist chart.
