Kelechi Iheanacho opened the floodgates of goals on Wednesday as Leicester City beat Arsenal 3-1 in Arsene Wenger’s penultimate Premier League game.
Wenger, whose side thrashed Burnley 5-0 on his Emirates farewell party, didn’t receive any favours from Iheanacho on his visit to the King Power.
The Nigerian opened the scoring in the first half just 92 seconds before Konstantinos Mavropanos was dismissed for the visitors.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did level but Jamie Vardy’s penalty and Riyad Mahrez’s late goal settled the game, leaving the Gunners with the same away record as relegated West Brom ahead of Sunday’s finale at Huddersfield.
Victory at least eased some of the growing pressure on Leicester boss Claude Puel, but it was just the Foxes’ fifth win in 20 Premier League games.
“Overall, I am very sad,” said Wenger. “Decisions went against us. In the end we are upset we lost a game we should not have lost. That is a fact.
“They played 11 against 10 for 75 mins. They played well but, and I don’t know if you have played football before, but when you have to attack 10 v 11 and lose the ball, the opponent has space and try to counter-attack.”
