The town of Ijebu Ode, Ogun State lit up on Saturday with dignitaries honouring the founder of the First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Subomi Balogun at his final burial.
The billionaire businessman died in London on May 18 at the age of 89.
Funeral service kicked off at 10 am at the Cathedral Church of Our Saviour in Ijebu Ode. A private family interment followed.
Guests received at Otunba Tunwase Court were treated to the view of Balogun’s mansion and fleet of exotic cars. The deceased was a lover of Rolls Royce.
Among the dignitaries who attended the funeral service were Vice President Kashim Shettima, former head of state Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), former governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel and wife, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, and businessman Rasaq Okoya and wife Shade.

Activities held ahead of the final burial included a night of tributes, service of songs and commendation service.
A prominent son of Ijebuland, Balogun held the titles of Otunba Tunwase, Olori Omo-Oba Ijebu, Asiwaju of Ijebu Christians, Baba Oba of Ijebu-Ife and Asalu-Oba of Ijebu Mushin among others.
