Ikechukwu Ezenwa’s meteoric rise with the Super Eagles is paying dividends as the shot-stopper is now on the radar of several foreign sides.
Ezenwa, 29, has become an integral part of Gernot Rohr’s team, putting up impressive displays during the latter stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The FC IfeanyiUbah star played key roles in the games against Cameroon (both in Uyo and Yaoundé) as well as the crucial tie with Zambia.
As skipper of the Super Eagles B team, he has equally been superb, leading them to the finals of the WAFU Cup and qualification for the African Nations Championship.
Now it appears that the ex-Ocean Boys safe pair of hands could become the next Nigerian star to dump the domestic scene.
“It is true that Ikechukwu has several number of clubs interested in him which we are happy about,” his agent, Godwin Emmanuel, told SuperSport on Tuesday.
“But the interests in him do not surprise us though because he has been up and doing and has been in very good form in matches he has played for the Super Eagles. So those appearances did not go unnoticed to the World.
“For now we will rather keep the names of the clubs interested in him under wraps because nothing has been concluded just yet. But there are interests from clubs in Africa and in Europe as well, that is the much I can give away at the moment.”
Ezenwa started his career at Ocean Boys in 2006 followed by spells at Heartland FC, Sharks FC, Sunshine Stars and IfeanyiUbah.
His first appearance for the country was at the U-20 level 10 years ago but his senior debut came in 2016.
