The elderly have protested the take-over by the Kwara State Government of a piece of land being used by the Saraki family in Ilorin.
The government said the land was originally meant for Government Secretariat and parking space of the Civil Service Clinic but was unlawfully allocated to a private firm, Asa Investments Limited, without any record of payment to the state government.

Videos of the aged women’s protest flooded social media on Tuesday.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq says no certificate of occupancy was issued in favour of Asa Investments Limited for the property.

A new secretariat will now be constructed on the piece of land.
But former Senate President Bukola Saraki said his family would contest the action through legal means, saying “We are sure this is not an action taken in public interest.”
