Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has promised to drive more development to the Ibeju-Lekki axis of the state if he is elected.
At an interactive session with traditional rulers and party leaders from Ibeju-Lekki, Sanwo-Olu said his government would bring back rural electrification project to connect more communities to electricity.
“We have recognised the importance of the development of Lekki-Ibeju axis to the economic and investment growth of the state. If you give us your mandate, I promise that the integrated development of this important city will receive a maximum attention from my government. I’ll drive more positive development to this area,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The parley was set up at the instance of the three paramount rulers in the area, the Onibeju of Ibejuland, Oba Rafiu Salami, Onitedo of Itedoland, Oba Tajudeen Elemoro and Onilekki of Lekki.
Speaking on behalf of the residents, Baale of Araromi, Olayemi Lukmon, complained about the state of schools in Ibeju-Lekki, saying that the existing structure in most schools are not in sync with modern Lagos.
“We are ashamed to see that before our eyes, schools continue to deteriorate in Ibeju-Lekki. We want you to look into it.’’ Olayemi said.
He also called Sanwo-Olu’s attention to the plight of the traditional chiefs who have not been gazetted by the Lagos State government.
He said the chiefs are merely serving the community because of the love they have for the society.
Other issues discussed include electricity, road construction and expansion as well as empowerment for the local farmers.
Sanwo-Olu, in response, promised to fix all the major roads especially the Ibeju-Epe, Lekki-Eleko and all other coastal roads.
