Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has expressed sadness over the death of his shoe designer Ojima-Ojo Omale aka OJ Best.
Being a promoter of Nigerian-made items, Prof. Osinbajo met OJ Best in 2020 and had the entrepreneur make him footwear.
OJ Best’s death was announced on Sunday on his Twitter page.
Mourning the shoemaker, Osinbajo said in a post to Instagram on Monday: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the sudden death of Mr. Ojima Omale, aka OJBEST, 28, my young enterprising shoemaker and friend.”
The vice president described him as one who was “talented, creative and dedicated to his craft,” adding that he never ceased to be impressed by OJ Best’s “exertions for perfection in his products.”
“I and many members of my team, for whom he also made shoes, will miss him, his services and unfailing good humour
“Our thoughts are with his family as we pray that God will comfort them. May his memory remain blessed. Amen,” he added.
OJ Best also made footwear for a couple of high profile persons such as actress Kate Henshaw, lawyer Joe Abah and Senator Dino Melaye.
