Former coach of the Super Eagles Christian Chukwu has debunked reports of his death which went viral on social media on Saturday.
Chukwu, who captained the Super Eagles to its first African Nations Cup title in 1980, recently clocked 70.
Vanguard Saturday editor Onochie Anibeze who spoke with Chukwu on Sunday said the former footballer was embarrassed at reports about his death.
He also quoted Chukwu as saying that his phone has not stopped ringing since Saturday night.
Mr Anibeze said he visited Chukwu on Saturday and that the football icon was full of life and cracked many jokes during their chat.
He said Chukwu was elated by the birthday messages from President Muhammadu Buhari and the galaxy of football stars who paid him tribute on Segun Odegbami’s programme on NTA, The Parliament.
Former vice-presidential candidate Peter Obi also paid Chukwu a visit to felicitate with him on his birthday.
