I’m excited to be a part of this project! Sola Sobowale joins FCCPC campaign against loan sharks

Actress Sola Sobowale has teamed up with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in its fight against predatory loan apps, also known as loan sharks.

The 59-year-old announced her involvement in the campaign on Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a video clip that highlights the dangers of unregulated lending.

In the video, Sola portrays a woman being harassed by loan sharks before an FCCPC agent steps in to address the situation.

Captioning the post, she wrote, “Who talk say wahala no dey finish! FCCPC doing good work in protecting the rights of all categories of consumers.

“I’m excited to be a part of this project! Where your rights are violated, follow due process to seek redress. #EveryConsumerIsAKing.”

FCCPC has been at the forefront of cracking down on illegal digital lenders notorious for harassing borrowers, exposing their private information and imposing unfair repayment conditions. The agency has shut down multiple loan apps and imposed fines on defaulters.

Established in 2018 through the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) under former President Muhammadu Buhari, the FCCPC replaced the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and was granted expanded powers to regulate business practices, prevent monopolies, and ensure fair competition.

The agency has worked alongside the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and other regulators to enforce compliance in the lending industry, making consumer protection a top priority.
