Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has denied reports that he has gone missing because of ill health as the handiwork of enemies of the state.
Multiple media reports over the weekend alleged there was anxiety in the state following Bello’s non-appearance in public in the last two weeks.
There was speculation that the governor might have been flown abroad to treat an undisclosed ailment, leaving Deputy Governor Simon Achuba with the duty of receiving visitors on behalf of his boss.
The governor’s spokesman, Kingsley Fanwo, however, denied that his boss is nursing an ailment.
“I want to state clearly here for the avoidance of doubt that the rumour lacks any iota of truth. It is a reflection of the depth the enemies of Kogi State have gone in their desperate angst against fate,” Fanwo said in a statement.
“To put the record straight, the governor is hale and hearty, healthy and unwavering in his vigour to make Kogi State the Confluence of Excellence.
“I urge all Kogites of goodwill to discountenance the rumour as His Excellency will return from his two weeks break on the 12th of November, 2016.
“Let me also thank the good people of Kogi State for their love and sense of solidarity.”
