Attorney general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice Lateef Fagbemi has said he does not have an account on X formerly Twitter.
In a statement on Saturday by his spokesman Kamarudeen Ogundele, the AGF advised members of the public not to engage with handles impersonating him.
“The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN, has no Twitter handle,” the statement said.
“He has channels of communicating with Nigerians, but Twitter is not one of them, at least for now.
“The public should take notice of this and be well guided for future interactions.”
Fagbemi’s statement followed excitement which greeted an account opened in his name on Friday.
Operator of the account wrote, “I am happy to finally join X/Twitter. I believe this is an essential platform for engagement, feedback and understanding the thoughts, ideas and values of our people.
“This will complement our other efforts to ensure the Nigerian people are kept in touch with our service to them.”
As of the time of this report, the fraudulent account opened on Friday already had over 5,000 followers.
