Singer 2Baba has revealed that he does not plan to retire from music anytime soon after videos of his farmland surfaced online.
In an interview with The Punch on Thursday, the 44-year-old through his manager Efe Omorogbe stated that his venture into farming was not a retirement plan but just another business venture.
According to 2Baba’s manager, the farmland is part of the numerous business empire owned by the singer.
Omorogbe said: “You can be active in the entertainment space and have business interests in a lot of other things and earn passive income without making a retirement plan. So it’s not a decision to transit from music to any other thing especially retirement. We don’t want to communicate it like that. It’s just another venture like properties he has acquired or investments but this time, it’s on a huge scale because it’s designed to create empowerment for a large number of people.”
The manager also affirmed that the new venture would not affect 2Baba’s music business.
“I really don’t think this business venture would affect his music. First, he is very involved in this new venture. Besides, it is mechanised farming so Tuface is not going to carry a hoe or cutlass to farm from morning till night,” he added.
On Monday, 2Baba shared a video on Instagram showing his vast farmland in his birth state, Benue.
Soon after the video was released, fans feared that he was trying to announce his exit from the Nigerian music scene.
The award-winning singer formally unveiled Innobia Cooperatives Organisation (Innobia Allied Ltd), an agro-allied business concern with headquarters in Nigeria and branches in Israel and the United Kingdom on July 13.
