Veteran singer, Innocent Idibia, better known as 2Baba, has described himself as an upcoming artiste.
The 48-year-old made the statement in a recent post on Instagram in which he also hinted at releasing new music later in the year.
2Baba lamented that the successes of young artistes in Nigeria have seemingly reduced his status to the level of an “upcoming artist”.
While applauding the young artists for their achievements, 2Baba vowed to return to the spotlight this year.
On his Instagram page, he wrote: “Mennn! These new cats are not smiling o. I don turn to upcoming artist o. Chai!
“But as dem talk am, we no go gree for anybody this year. Na kitchen [studio] I dey lai dis.”
Known for his hit songs like ‘African Queen’, ‘True Love’ and ‘Implication’, 2Baba is regarded as one of those who contributed in the early stages to making Afrobeat what it is today.
