There is jubilation in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its governorship candidate in Osun State Ademola Adeleke is projected to win the election.
As of 6am Sunday, Adeleke had won 17 of the 30 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
Incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), however, won in the remaining 13 LGAs.
The collation exercise, which commenced in the early hours of Sunday, is ongoing at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Osogbo, the state capital.
Senate President Bukola Saraki posted a video on Twitter of the PDP situation room where he rejoices with Adeleke’s nephew Davido.
PDP spokesman Kola Ologbondiyan also posted a similar video on Twitter.
Adeleke was defeated in 2018 by Oyetola following a supplementary election.
INEC is expected to declare the winner of the election soon.
