Forte Oil Chairman, Femi Otedola, has been forced to go on a Twitter break over of the activities of impersonators using his name on the social media platform.
The 55-year-old announced the decision to his almost 46k followers on Saturday.
He said he is suspending tweeting until his account is verified by Twitter.
Good day to the online community. Due to the fraudulent and disingenuous exploitation of my persona on this platform, tweets from me on this account are suspended forthwith until I am verified by Twitter. Thank you. F.Ote$

Otedola joined Twitter and Instagram in February 2018.
According to him, the move was to checkmate fake accounts operated in his name.
Since then, he has been advising his followers and general online community to be wary of identity thieves.
Please beware of impersonators that may try to leverage on my profile. My handle is @realFemiOtedola using the small letter for “L” in real. I just blocked an impersonator that used the capital letter for “i” in real which, when put side by side, look identical. Please beware.

While Otedola’s Instagram account is verified, Twitter is yet to extend that privilege to one of the richest men in Africa.
The Twitter and Instagram accounts of his celebrity daughters Ifeoluwa (DJ Cuppy) and Temi Otedola are, however, verified
