Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Bello Mutawalle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as governor-elect of Zamfara State.
INEC chairman, Mahmoud Yakubu, made the announcement Saturday.
This comes after the Supreme Court on Friday nullified the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state after the party defaulted in following the guidelines for state primaries as contained in its constitution.
Other positions, including House of Assembly seats, were also affected by the ruling.
The apex court ruled that candidates who came second behind APC, in all positions, be declared winners.
Mr Mutawalle came second in the governorship election in the state.
INEC had earlier said it would reach a decision on Monday on which candidate would benefit from the ruling.
It, however, announced at a press conference Saturday afternoon that Mutawalle had met the required score to be governor, ending speculations of a rerun election.
Yakubu said the successful candidates would receive their certificate of returns on Monday.
