An accident involving a DAF truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway left an infant dead on Wednesday morning, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the incident which involved five persons occurred at Kara Bridge at 8.45 a.m.
Mr Kazeem said that one of the tyres of the truck burst, making it to skid off the road and plunged into the river under the bridge.
He said the truck knocked down a commercial motorcycle rider conveying a woman with the affected infant strapped to her back.
“The woman and the motorcycle rider survived.
“The injured has been taken to our emergency unit at Ojota, while traffic control and clearing of obstructions are ongoing,” Kazeem said.
NAN reports that at least eight persons lost their lives in separate accidents at the same spot between November 16 and 18, 2017.
