Actress Ini Edo has expressed her gratitude to everyone who stood by her during her father’s funeral last week.
Sharing a video recap of the event on Instagram on Monday, Ini penned a heartfelt message thanking friends, colleagues and government officials for their support.
“To the glory of God, we gave our father a funeral befitting for a man after God’s heart, a lover of life, and the heart of the party,” she wrote.
She extended special appreciation to Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno, Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi and former Governor Udom Emmanuel for their unwavering support.
“A special thank you to the good people and Government of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Gov Umo Eno, and our Amiable Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Akon Eyakenyi… My family and I are forever grateful,” she wrote.
She also acknowledged former Governor Udom Emmanuel and his family for their presence and assistance, stating, “Words cannot express how elated we are that you graced us with your esteemed presence and support throughout this trying time. May God continue to bless and preserve you and your entire household.”
Ini Edo did not fail to recognise her Nollywood colleagues who traveled to Akwa Ibom for the burial despite their busy schedules.
“To my adorable colleagues and friends… Y’all made me so proud and emotional. Considering the present state of the economy and your very busy schedules, y’all showed up and out for me,” she said.
“Life feels a little easier and a lot brighter with friends like you. Thank you for always showing up, for standing by me, and for being the kind of person I can always count on. I don’t take it for granted.”
She also reflected on how her family has remained strong since her father’s passing in December, expressing pride in their resilience.
Clips from the funeral, which surfaced online last week Friday, showed Uche Jombo, Ruth Kadiri, Rita Dominic, Emmanuel Taymesan, IK Ogbonna, Kate Henshaw, Nancy Isime, Desmond Elliot and Toke Makinwa in matching Ankara outfits as they joined Ini to bid farewell to her father.
The actress was dressed in a white outfit adorned with beads, while her daughter wore an Ankara gown.
Ini Edo first announced her father’s death in February, sharing the heartbreaking news on Instagram alongside a photo of him.
