Nigerians have begun dragging Forbes following the 10-year jail term handed to Obinwanne Okeke on Tuesday in the United States for a computer-based intrusion fraud scheme that caused approximately $11 million in known losses to his victims.
Forbes had in 2016 listed the 33-year-old as one of “30 entrepreneurs under 30 to watch”.
The founder of Invictus Group, popularly known in Nigeria as Invictus Obi, was also named among 100 most influential young Africans 2018.
Nigerians have keenly followed the case since his arrest in 2019.
Like they did after he was arrested, Nigerians on Twitter have taken swipes at Forbes saying the financial magazine should have investigated the source of Okeke’s wealth before listing him as a model for young persons.
