The picture (below) shows President Goodluck Jonathan and his main challenger in Saturday’s election, General Muhammadu Buhari, shaking hands on May 29 while they both hold a map of Nigeria.
It came with the caption “Politicians are friends no matter their party, don’t fight or kill yourself because of politicians. #VoteNotFight #AM”
The only way Jonathan and Buhari will be shaking hands publicly on handover date is if the incumbent is transferring to the former military ruler.
Opponents in Nigerian elections are not known to shake hands on handover date unless one is handing over to the other.
Whatever the former Bauchi governor’s intentions might be with the picture, his action appears politically incorrect.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) won’t complain though.
