The first civilian Governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adeleke, was buried in his country home in Ede on Monday.
Although the 62-year-old died early on Sunday, his burial could not hold immediately in accordance with Muslim rites because of questions raised over the cause of death.
His supporters protested shortly after the death was announced, calling for an autopsy to be conducted at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
Adeleke was a serving senator representing Osun West Senatorial district elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He was believed to be planning contesting the state governorship election in 2018 before his death.
Present at his burial were Governors Ibikunle Amosun and Rotimi Akeredolu of Ogun and Ondo states respectively.
Meanwhile, Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, has directed the declaration of a three-day period of mourning throughout the state from April 24 to 26.
During the period of mourning, all flags are to fly half mast.
