Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has compared the struggle for the actualisation of Biafra with the creation of four new emirates in Kano State.
Mr Kanu made the comparison on Thursday on Twitter in reaction to a report about President Muhammadu Buhari’s support for the Palestinian state.
He said that as Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, created new emirates in the state, thereby breaking the age-long Kano emirate, so will Biafra one day become an independent entity from Nigeria.
“It took a Ganduje to break KANO into 4 Emirates. Kano is a 200-year old mega-emirate once seen as INDIVISIBLE (like Nigeria),” the IPOB leader wrote.
“Separating from the whole is not a TABOO, it’s not treason. If it’s good for the goose, it should be good for the gander.#BiafraExit is a CERTAINTY!”
Ganduje, last year, created four new emirates – Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi – and appointed first-class emirs over them who would have equal powers with the emir of Kano.
The move was seen as a means to cut the powers of the former emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, who was removed and replaced with Aminu Ado Bayero.
