Actress Halima Abubakar has cried out for help, revealing that she is still battling an undisclosed illness and has been using filters to conceal her true appearance.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Halima shared a distressing video, lamenting her struggles while stating that God knows best.
“You know best. My tears and pain won’t go in vain. Amen,” she wrote.
The video began with a statement that read: “Two things I know for sure: Prayers work, and tables eventually turn.”
In a follow-up post, the actress admitted she is struggling and tired of seeking assistance.
She shared her account details, pleading with Nigerians for financial support.
“Help me. I’m tired of begging,” she wrote.
Addressing her followers in a tearful video, Halima explained her condition and how she has been masking her struggles with social media filters.
“Hi everybody. People are confused, saying what’s going on. I’m not feeling fine up till now, I’m just good at being strong and pretending that I am okay.
“This is me, but every day you see me post pictures with a filter. That is a filter from TikTok, but this is how I look. I didn’t want to post a picture looking like this. And some of you would be laughing, what is funny?”
She questioned why people would doubt her condition, insisting she was not lying about her health.
“Yea, I go to the hospital, I actually go to Turkish hospital, which is one of the biggest in Nigeria. This is not me.
“Okay, you sacked me from Nollywood, which is okay, but what is all this betrayal? They said I was never sick, that I was lying. My own best friend says I am lying, that I am acting.
“How can someone be acting sick? Do I look like someone that is acting to you? You are a wicked person, and you are evil. God will punish you for saying I am lying.
“Do you know how many people I’ve been begging? I have practically been begging everybody so they can support me for my medication. I am not crying, I am just venting.”
She concluded the video with a Qur’anic recitation, pleading for assistance from Nigerians.
Halima had previously given an update on her health, lamenting that her healing process was not progressing as she had hoped.
She stated that she was at a stage where she wished her memory could be erased.
In 2024, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) suspended Halima for allegedly defaming her colleagues and high-profile individuals.
She was accused of making false claims and having extramarital affairs with an influential person in society.
Following her suspension, Halima issued a public apology to Apostle Johnson Suleman, acknowledging that she had defamed him and caused harm to his ministry and family.
She admitted to making false allegations and expressed deep regret, hoping to mend the damage.
Halima’s dispute with Apostle Suleman began in 2022 when she accused the cleric of having an affair with her, which she claimed led to serious health issues.
She alleged that he continued engaging in intercourse with her despite her suffering from unusual bleeding and multiple miscarriages.
Apostle Suleman, 53, denied the accusations, labeling them an attempt to tarnish his reputation. His legal team, led by Abdul Mahmud, described Halima’s statements as defamatory and filed a N1 billion lawsuit against her.
As the legal battle dragged into 2023, Suleman’s lawyers accused the actress of deliberately avoiding court proceedings.
By April 2024, the court ruled in the cleric’s favor, ordering Halima to pay N10 million in damages, retract her statements and refrain from making further accusations.
