Comedian, actor and singer Julius Agwu says he has paid his dues in the entertainment industry.
The 48-year-old said this in an interview with Hip Tv published on Friday as he spoke about the growth of comedy in Nigeria.
According to him, he paid his dues with the comedy show Nite of a Thousand Laughs which birthed his own comedy show.
He said: “The growth of comedy in Nigeria. Comedy in Nigeria has grown so much because I always remember Nite of a Thousand Laughs which I paid my dues in. After Nite of a Thousand Laughs, I started Crack Your Ribs from Crack Your Ribs I started Laugh for Christ sake which holds every Sunday in Lagos. I started another comedy show which was a celebration of lovers on every 14th February. God has been awesome. I thank God for that.
In an interview with the Punch Newspapers published in February 2018, the Rivers-born comedian talked about his near-death experience after suffering a seizure.
“The truth is that I would not have been alive if not for God. I died and woke up; I literally died and woke up. I say that authoritatively because I know that I had an encounter with people that I know had died during that period. I saw my father who died about 12 years ago; he was the one that came and chased me back to the world because it was not my time. I died here in Nigeria but woke up when they were taking me to the mortuary,” he said.
