Nigeria youngster, Alex Iwobi, has been recognised for his inputs to the Arsenal first team with a nomination for the Gunners Player of the Month award for April.
The Super Eagles forward will have to slug it out against fellow attacker, Alexis Sanchez, young Spanish defender, Hector Bellerin and centre back, Laurent Koscielny, for the club’s top price.
Iwobi, 19, has played in all of Arsenal’s last seven games since impressing in the 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
He followed up his heroics at the Nou Camp with goals against Everton and Watford in the Barclays Premier League before assisting two others in the 3-3 draw at West Ham.
But the Nigerian must overcome the challenge posed by Chilean forward, Sanchez, who is on a streak of his own with five goals in his last five for the Gunners.
Also in the contest is PFA Team of the Year nominee, Bellerin, as well as French defender, Koscielny, who ensured the Gunners kept three clean sheets in five games in April.
Meanwhile, Iwobi has heaped praises on fit again teammate, Jack Wilshere, after the England midfielder made his first appearance of the season for the north London club last weekend.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website, Iwobi said: “He’s brilliant on the ball, he’s able to find space and he’s the master of the no-touch turn.
“He doesn’t even need to touch the ball, he just shields it with his body and turns away from defenders with ease. It’s something that us youth team players used to watch and then try in training.
“He’s a big inspiration for us. A couple of times in training we used to get together and practise the ‘Jack Wilshere turn’, but nobody can do it as well as he can!”
Iwobi comes up against Norwich City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday before playing Manchester City and Aston Villa in his final two games of the season.
