Wife of a former vice president Dolapo Osinbajo has paid tributes to the iyaloja-general of Ogun State Mercy Owolana who died at the age of 87 last month.
Mrs Owolana, an international textiles business tycoon and philanthropist, breathed her last on September 17.
On Thursday night, Mrs Osinbajo shared a video on Instagram, celebrating the life of the deceased. She revealed that the late iyaloja was at her christening.
“Mummy Owolana was there at my christening. Always full of joy, hugs and kisses always,” she wrote.
Owolana was also the Iyalode of Ikenne and Bere Akarigbo of Remo Land.
Her son Debo Owolana earlier announced her death in a statement on behalf of the families.
The statement said, “With a deep sense of loss, the families of Owolana and Efunnuga announce the passing of our dear mother, Chief (Mrs) Mercy Temitayo ‘Muyi’ Owolana, Iyaloja General of Ogun State, Beere Akarigbo of Remoland and Iyalode of Ikenne. We are grateful for her exemplary life of service and dedication to God, family and the community at large. Mama’s soul was called to glory today 17th September 2024 at the age of 87 years. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”
