Former governor of Delta State James Ibori on Wednesday joined Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and others in welcoming President-elect Bola Tinubu to Rivers.
Tinubu was invited by Wike to commission some projects.
Also present to welcome Tinubu were Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi, Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom and others.
Ibori, who has been largely uninvolved in Abuja matters throughout the Buhari administration, joined others in receiving Tinubu.
Ibori and Tinubu were state governors from 1999 to 2007. Ibori was governor in Delta while Tinubu was governor in Lagos.
Many on social media believe that Ibori, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), travelled to Rivers to spite incumbent governor of Delta State Ifeanyi Okowa after the latter lost in his bid to be vice president of Nigeria on the PDP platform.
