An Abuja Upper Area Court has remanded self-acclaimed sex therapist Hauwa Mohammed aka Jaruma in prison over her clash with actress Regina Daniels and her husband Ned Nwoke.

The police charged Jaruma with false news publication, intimidation and defamation of character.

The area court judge, Ismailia Abdullahi, adjourned until Friday for the bail ruling. He also fixed the trial for February 23.

Abdullahi directed that the defendant should be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre, overruling police requests that she be held with them.

In his submission, the prosecution counsel, Mr E. A Inegbenoise and Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Nwoko reported the matter through a written petition from his lawyer to FCT Police Command for proper investigation on January 20.

Inegbenoise said that the defendant, used various social media platforms, especially her Instagram page to publish false information against Nwoko and Regina.

He told the court that Jaruma gave the false news in order to incite public hatred against Nwoko and Regina Daniels to damage their reputation.

Speaking further, he said that the defendant published that the complainant and his wife collected her money but failed to deliver the purported contract which never existed.

“However in view of the fact that the defendant was only arrested on January 21 and granted bail without having the opportunity to question her, we prayed the court to remand the defendant in police custody for 7 days.

“This is to enable detectives to interrogate her, and execute search warrant in her apartments at her residents,’’ Inegbenoise told the court.

Meanwhile, James Odibe, counsel to the businesswoman, in an oral application for bail, cited sections 35 and 36 (5) of the 1999 constitution and Section 305, 165 (1) of Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015.

Odibe told the court that the two parties are celebrities and equally urged the court to grant the defendant bail on self-recognition or in the alternative, in the most liberal terms.

Qed.ng recalls that Jaruma dragged Ned Nwoko on Instagram in December last year after the latter made a statement discrediting her kayamata product. He also questioned why the sex therapist’s husband left her in spite of her claims that kayamata has the power to bend any man to a woman’s will.

Angered by the statement, Jaruma said: “If Kayamata is not working on you, how can a little girl of 21 control you and your PR to type this, five pages, Jaruma product is working on you, If not how can a 21-year-old girl allow this to be published on your own page with your own words. We know it is Regina’s writing.”

This came after Regina publicly disowned Jaruma, denying the rumour that she used kayamata to bend Ned Nwoko to her will.

Firing back at Regina, Jaruma accused the 21-year-old of breaching their contract. She also claimed she paid Regina N10 million to advertise her products.
