Director General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, is still reliving his role in the emergence of Mr Gbajabiamila as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was on June 11 elected Speaker with 284 votes going in his favour compared with his closest challenger, Mohammed Bago, who got a paltry 76 votes.
He had been his party’s favourite for the position after breaking protocol by publicly declaring his interest.
His appointment of a campaign team was also away from tradition.
Reliving his efforts, Mr Jibrin in a tweet on Friday said his team could not afford complacency which was the reason why the agenda was taken personally to governors and stakeholders.
He mentioned some of the governors his team met – Nyesom Wike of Rivers State; former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha; Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State; Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State; Willie Obiano of Anambra State; Yahaya Bello of Kogi State among others.
“We took the Femi/Wase campaign across the country meeting Governors and stakeholders…from Wike, Okorocha, Badaru, Ganduje, Obiano, Bagudu, Okowa, Igwuanyi, Elrufai, Umahi, Zulum,Lanlong, Sanwo-Olu, Inuwa, Bello, and Kalu among others. We couldn’t afford complacency!” Jibrin wrote.
