Nigerian-American singer, Jidenna, was a special guest at the Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos on Sunday night.
The-33-year-old, who was in Nigeria for the Soundcity MVP Awards, was received at the iconic cultural centre by Yeni Kuti, Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti.
Also present were Yeni’s daughter, Rolari and her daughter, Femi’s son, Made, and regular callers at the Shrine built in memory of the late Fela Kuti.
Appreciating his host, Jidenna wrote in an Instagram post on Monday: Give thanks to the Anikulapo Kuti family for inviting us to The New Afrika Shrine. You all are true royalty. ‘Afrobeats’ artists owe tithes and offerings to una. I will forever cherish this night of wisdom, laughter and libations.”
His hosts also expressed delight at having him in messages posted on their individual Instagram handles.
Located in Agidingbi, Ikeja, the Afrika Shrine plays hosts to Nigerians and foreigners high and low.
French President Emmanuel Macron was a visitor in July last year.
It was followed by the visit of Nigerian-British singer, Seal, in August.
Bono of the rock group, U2, had visited in 2015.
