Former Lagos governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, says he is ‘touched’ by the heroics of Rev. Sr. Henrietta Alokha, the late principal of Bethlehem Girls College, Abule Ado, Lagos.
Sister Alokha died trying to rescue the boarding pupils whose school was among several buildings affected by the explosion on Sunday.
Tweeting on Tuesday, Mr Agbaje prayed for the repose of the cleric’s soul.
“As information about the Amuwo Odofin explosion unfolds, I am touched by the courage and sacrifice of Reverend Sister Henrietta Alokha of Bethlehem High School Abule Ado,” he said.
“She stood up to be counted when it mattered most and paid the supreme price for the safety of her students. I salute her courage and pray that her soul Rest In Peace. Amen.”
Pupils who were injured as a result of the explosion received treatment at the Navy Hospital.
The Staff Officer, Western Naval Command, Oladele Daji, had said on Monday that those who have fully recovered would be discharged soon.
