Super Eagles midfielder, Joel Obi, is aiming to continue his fine goalscoring form at Torino so as to win Gernot Rohr over.
Obi, 26, notched his fifth of the season in his club’s 4-0 bashing of Cagliari last week.
While the Nigerian has continued to impress in Italy, he will need to do extra to break into his country’s squad to Russia.
Obi didn’t do much impressing during his last two outings for his country against Poland and Serbia.
He, however, reckons scoring more may help break into Nigeria’s team.
“I hope to score, but that is if the chance comes my way,” he told Complete Sports.
If he scores against Crotone on Wednesday, it will be the second time this season he has done so in consecutive Serie A games following his strikes against Sassuolo in the 1-1 draw and the 3-0 bashing of Benevento both in January at home seven days later.
“I was happy returning to the national team in the recent friendlies,” he stated.
“But I want to do more than I did if I get another chance.”
