Nigerian-British actor John Boyega has disclosed that he is discussing movie collaboration with filmmaker Genevieve Nnaji.

John stated this during a panel session at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) where he praised Genevieve’s acting prowess, calling her performances “subtle” and “versatile”.

Expressing his admiration for her, the Woman King actor said: “Genevieve Nnaji is the Nollywood actress who inspired me. She’s my favourite Nollywood actress.

“Growing up, I watched her alongside Omotola Jalade and there’s just something unique about her acting.”

John elaborated on what sets Genevieve apart saying, “Her acting ability, to me, could transcend any type of filmmaking. She has a subtle way of conveying emotion, she doesn’t need to say much to deliver impact.

“Film is such an intimate medium—unlike theatre, it doesn’t require exaggerated expressions for an audience.

“Instead, it captures close, personal moments and Genevieve has mastered that skill.”

The actor added, “I’ve spoken with Genevieve and we’re working on bringing her on board.”

This isn’t the first time John has spoken fondly of Nigerian talent.

In 2023, he revealed that Wizkid was his favourite artiste.
