Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, is relishing the prospect of playing two-time world champions, Argentina, in an international friendly.
Nigeria face the Albiceleste in Krasnodar, Russia on November 14 as they begin preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Ogu, 29, who plies his trade at Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Israel, believes the game will be a perfect test for Gernot Rohr’s team.
“The game will be a good test for the Eagles. Even though Argentina struggled to qualify for the World Cup, they will still be a force to reckon with,” the ex-Akwa United star was quoted by AOIFootball on Tuesday.
“I believe we have the squad to match them and even though they pose some of the best players in the world, we have a very young and united squad that can match any team in the world.”
Despite his consistent displays at club level, Ogu hasn’t managed to work his way into reckoning under Rohr.
The 29-year-old has been reduced to a mere squad player since the German took charge last year.
That, however, isn’t too much of a problem for the midfielder who is ready to bid his time until his opportunity comes.
“I must confess that the national team is even more competitive than before,” Ogu explained.
“Every player cannot play at the same time so I will wait for my time and take it when it comes.”
Ogu has featured 12 times for the Super Eagles since making his debut in 2013, scoring once in a friendly against Mexico in Houston, USA that same year.
