Super Eagles midfielder, John Ogu, has made public the secret behind his recent fine goalscoring form for his Isreali club, Hapoel Beer-Sheva.
Ogu, 28, has netted twice in club’s last two playoff matches.
First, he notched the only goal in the victory over Bnei Yehuda, then another in the 2-2 draw against Hapoel Haifa.
Playing with an extra man in midfield according to Ogu has given him leverage to burst forward to nick some goals.
“It’s always a nice feeling to be on the score sheet. Hopefully, I can score more before the season ends,” Ogu was quoted by AOIFootball on Thursday.
“I think it’s the formation we playing now mostly. Playing with two central midfielders now, unlike playing as a defensive midfielder, gives me more freedom to attack.
“Hopefully, I can take this form to the national team because I think if we add that to our game, it will be a plus but my biggest priority in every game is to be focused 100% in defending and then scoring,”
Ogu will be hoping his team finishes top to book a continental place next term.
Barring any late injury, he is expected to make Gernot’s team to Russia.
