Chelsea captain, John Terry, has not travelled with the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League round of 16 tie at Paris Saint-Germain, the club have confirmed.
Terry hobbled off in the first half of Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Newcastle on Sunday after tweaking a hamstring in an aerial tussle with Aleksandar Mitrovic.
The 35-year-old joined the rest of the Chelsea squad for the first 15 minutes of an open training session on Monday, but the Blues have now confirmed that he has remained in London.
“John Terry has not travelled due to a minor problem with his hamstring and ligament,” a statement on Chelsea’s official website said.
Chelsea face Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday and interim coach, Guus Hiddink, has said he would have to think carefully before taking a chance on Terry’s fitness in France.
Alexandre Pato has also stayed in London to continue the “preseason” fitness regime designed for him by Chelsea staff, but fellow January arrival Matt Miazga and academy product Jake Clarke-Salter have travelled with the squad.
Oscar is also available again for Chelsea after missing the Newcastle game with a minor calf problem.
