Joke Silva pays tribute to late Francesca Emanuel

Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, has paid tribute to Nigeria’s first female permanent secretary, Francesca Emanuel, who died on Tuesday of natural causes.

The 58-year-old shared the tribute on Instagram on Friday when she shared a picture of her husband, Olu Jacobs and the deceased.

She wrote, “@_olujacobs and nd aunty Franchesca Emmanuel at the command performance of Ada the Country in January this year…Rest well my Aunty. Rest well. Mrs Francesca Emmanuel 1933-April 9th 2020.”

I loved the script…the nuanced use of language was so refreshing I knew my aunty would love it too. So I arranged for my driver to pick her up.as hers was off duty that day. And I was right she loved it and penned the review below………… "Thank you for your invitation to the musical "Ada the Country" which examined gender challenges and differences in some facets and levels of life. The inquiry of cultural mores in a changing society is poignant, as evident in the script, costume and the stage, and enhanced by the choreography, songs and music. The late Mrs Emanuel was appointed a Permanent Secretary in the Public Service Department of the Cabinet Office in July 1975, thus becoming the first female permanent secretary in Nigeria.

She is survived by her husband, Bosede Emanuel, and son, Muyiwa Emanuel.
