Excerpts…
What have you been up to lately?
I have been busy since I returned to Nollywood after a few years’ hiatus. I have been travelling to movie locations in the South East, Abuja, and other parts of Nigeria. Our NGO, #4NL, has also taken some part of my attention and of course the family issues regarding the wellbeing of my son. I have been involved in many activities including some the presidential campaign of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan because I am one of those who support his re-election to the office because of his tremendous performance in his first four years in office and the fact that we want a change in Lagos State. Change from APC to PDP which has the umbrella that accommodates all shades of opinion and people.
Some people feel that you joined #4NL because you’re not as much in demand in Nollywood as before, is that true?
I don’t understand what you mean by not being in much demand. I just told you that I have been busy travelling to movie locations in Enugu, Abuja, and other cities in Nigeria, participating in presidential campaigns on request and engaging in my businesses. Moviemakers know the difference between legends and newcomers. When they need the people that make the movies, they look for us and I participate when I am available. It is only when movies have been produced and brought to the public glare that people see them and know the characters involved.
As for #4NL, it is an NGO that was formed before Jimi Agbaje began his political campaigns. The NGO is supporting his campaign because the vision of the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP tallies with the broad vision of the NGO. I am not idle, but I accept jobs that are in tandem with my acting vocation. I am not desperate for jobs. What belongs to me will surely come to me. People are free to feel the way they like.
Last words to your fans?
As usual, I will always strive to make my fans proud. God bless them all and I wish Nigeria free, fair and credible elections on March 28 and April 11, 2015.
