Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, is in hot water with the Football Association over his post-match comments after The Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

The Portuguese tactician embarked on a remarkable seven-minute rant after his club’s disappointing loss to the Saints and has now been reprimanded by the FA following his comments.

Mourinho, while criticising the officials, insinuated they are “afraid” to give decisions to his side after seeing Radamel Falcao booked for simulation with the score at 1-1.

“Jose Mourinho has been charged for misconduct in relation to media comments he made following Chelsea’s game against Southampton on Saturday 3 October 2015,” an FA statement reads.

“It is alleged his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.

“He has until 6pm on Thursday 8 October 2015 to respond to the charge.”

This will come as a big blow to the club and coach who earlier in the day received the backing of his superiors.

In a statement released by the club, it outlined “full support” for the embattled manager thereby passing on him a vote of confidence.

“The club wants to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support,” reads the statement.

“As Jose has said himself, results have not been good enough and the team’s performances must improve. However, we believe that we have the right manager to turn this season around and that he has the squad with which to do it.”
