Venezuelan opposition leader, Juan Guaidó, has said that the definitive end of ousting President Nicolás Maduro has begun.
Mr Guaidó appeared in a three-minute video on Tuesday with uniformed men calling for the usurping of Maduro’s government.
In the video, Guaidó was accompanied by another opposition leader, Leopoldo López, who has been under house arrest since being found guilty of inciting violence during anti-government protests in 2014.
Guaidó had declared himself interim president in January.
The opposition leader was tear-gassed after calling for more soldiers to join him in taking Maduro down.
The country’s military has stood by Maduro since the face-off with Guaidó began.
The United States also said it backed Guaidó to take over Maduro’s government.
Venezuela has been bedeviled by hyperinflation, power cuts, food and medicine shortages.
