Staff of the Department of State Services (DSS) went into a frenzy on Monday over the appointment of a new director-general Adeola Ajayi.
Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced Ajayi’s appointment in a statement. The appointment followed the resignation of Yusuf Bichi as head of the secret police.
In an unusual scenario, employees of the DSS across all commands and formations were seen dancing and singing as they received news of the appointment of Ajayi.
In some of the videos, impromptu parties with drinks and cocktails were seen organised at different commands to celebrate Ajayi’s appointment.
Ajayi rose through the ranks to attain his current post of assistant director-general of the Service. He had, at various times, served as state director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
